Major League Archery
I am from NW Arkansas and began putting together and buying farms in Barton County, MO back in 2013. The Lamar community is my second home and has some of the finest people I have ever met. I have been happily married to my amazing wife since 1999, and we have three children. I love to hunt just about everything, but if someone said, “Smitty you have to pick one”, it would be the Eastern and the Meriam Wild Turkey. All other game species are a very close second though; so darn close it could be a photo finish.
My life and work are grounded in my faith. I am a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ and serve Him through my local church and in other ministries. I have been involved in the jail ministry at the Washington County, AR, jail since 2017 as well as the Pathway to Freedom program since 2023 within the Arkansas Department of Corrections. I spend a lot of time in these places sharing the good news of the gospel with men that have in many cases lost their way. It is one of my passions in life. Time is so short. May the Lord richly bless you. I pray He will reveal Himself to those that do not know Him yet as savior after reading this!
To be honest, I do not even want to be called an outfitter. Not that there is anything wrong with it at all; I just believe what we are doing is better in a unique way. I describe it as “pioneering a different hunt.” The biggest difference between Major League Archery and outfitters selling traditional bow hunts is:
- It feels like an exclusive community where you are bow hunting with other like-minded bow hunters passionate about the sport and about real conservation.
- Members have the flexibility to hunt when they want inside of the allowed dates.
- There is a level and sense of competition.
- Members can earn significant money paid back through our incentives and contests.
- Members are a part of something much bigger than just shooting a trophy buck.
- Members will be challenged not only as bow hunters but as a person.
- There is an opportunity to bounty hunt/trap predators and varmints post-season.
I developed the Mossy Oak Properties brand in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma from 2009 until August of 2022. In May of 2023, I sold my Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants after building and operating twenty-eight in six states over a span of 21 years. Since selling my restaurants, I have finally had the time to spend nurturing this vision I have had to share my farms. The mission and vision statement are our GPS. For the most part, this whole effort will be the first time I have ever allowed anyone other than my immediate family and close friends to deer hunt these farms. I have always wanted to share these farms in this way with others and have decided it is now time. I am excited to see where this goes.
My members will not be a client but rather a guest and trusted friend. My goal is to build a unique club where like-minded bow hunters can know they are hunting with others that have the same goals in mind each time they hunt. I intend to build relationships with my hunters that will result in them returning year after year to the point where I have a waiting list behind my base members. If my bow hunters succeed, then I will have succeeded. I look forward to developing a meaningful relationship with my members centered around conservation and memories of chasing whitetail with bows.
I have a well-appointed lodge and some incredibly good habitat managed for whitetails. Our on-the-ground expert is Trent Baugh, a full-time habitat manager with a passion for creating thriving wildlife environments. Over the past several years, he has focused on managing private farms to improve habitat quality and ensure successful hunting experiences. From designing food plots to enhancing native cover, Trent takes a hands-on, thoughtful approach to every property he manages.
We offer a unique bow hunting experience. With the high cost of owning your own tract of land and only increasing, Major League Archery offers an alternative for those that are seeking a unique hunting experience for a fraction of the cost of owning your own piece of dirt. A 100-acre tract of land with $500K financed for 20 years is about $48,000.00 in annual payments, not to mention the downpayment, taxes, and upkeep. We offer well-managed whitetail habitats and ways for members to earn money back, which helps manage our deer herd to the best health it can be.
At 34 years old, Trent is a dedicated family man, married and the proud father of five wonderful kids. His commitment to his family and his faith is the foundation upon which his professional work ethic and passion for wildlife management are built.
